The FOX News Digital team is seeking a highly experienced Deputy Managing Editor to oversee and manage a team of reporters and editors in our Entertainment vertical. You have a wide understanding of entertainment and key newsmakers, as well as sources that will enable you to help break news and dig in on original reporting and help score exclusive interviews.

In this role, you will drive brand, editorial, and revenue goals by identifying, assigning, and editing (and sometimes writing on) entertainment topics of interest to readers across and, driving original and exclusive content production while mining potential story ideas from news sources, social media platforms, and online forums.


  • Generate story ideas and assign and edit a team of Entertainment editors producing timely, on-brand content or breaking news coverage under tight deadlines.
  • Assist the Managing Editor, News/Business, and other Managing Editors, as well as Deputy Managing Editors, with editorial direction, breaking news, and reporter assignments, while helping mentor/manage team members.
  • Monitor the news, social media platforms, and online forums for the latest breaking entertainment news and trending items
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience covering, entertainment.
  • Collaborate on stories with Managing Editors, other Deputy Managing Editors, and Senior Editors, hitting the intersection of entertainment, politics, and/or business.
  • Execute original reporting, including long-term projects and interviews.
  • Manage daily/weekly story planning.
  • Collaborate closely with FOX News Channel editors and reporters.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of ten years of experience covering entertainment-related news
  • Knowledge of AP style is vital, as is a clear and crisp writing style
  • Understanding of SEO specifics to drive traffic
  • Experience in managing and mentoring team members, and a track record of collaboration with internal leaders and stakeholders
  • Familiar with entertainment issues, players, and events; robust source networks and contacts generally
  • Skilled at being precise, quick, and accurate in presenting the news to the vast and audiences
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Ability to be flexible and can work on some holidays as needed; possess “on-call” mentality and be prepared to work under emergency or breaking news conditions
  • Excellent track record of achieving results in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to see the bigger picture and prioritize across multiple workstreams
  • Ability to quickly and independently problem solve and communicate early
  • Understanding of audience dynamics and segmentation
