Associate Editor, PC Gamer

Future, Remote, Work from USA

Connectors. Creators. Experience Makers.

Level: Entry Level

Duration: Full-Time

Description

PC Gamer is the global authority in PC games, a market leader with over 20 years of heritage, and offices in the US, UK and Australia. Operating in both print and online, our team is dedicated to bringing its readers around-the-clock informative and entertaining coverage of every aspect of their hobby, including class-leading buying advice for software and hardware.

The Associate Editor is the backbone of the PC Gamer team, a key contributor of stories that the PC Gamer audience loves.

Your job is to publish work that grows PC Gamer's reputation and audience. This work usually takes the form of features and news, but also as videos, guides, seasonal deals, or other formats as influenced by the wider editorial team or your own creativity.

Through your work, you anticipate and respond to the interests of PC gamers at large and seek to deepen the relationship readers have with their hobby through your insight, humor, criticism, curation, and reporting. You will be responsible for meeting all your deadlines.

The PC Gamer editorial team relies on each staff member to cultivate an expert awareness of the games, products, and trends that matter deeply to the PC Gamer audience, codified as a set of "beats." Assigned and rotated by the Global Editor-in-Chief, beats sit at the center of our editorial processes, and the Associate Editor is expected to be our eyes and ears on the topics assigned to them, regularly delivering coverage and ideas based on their awareness.

We all row the boat, and like other members of the PC Gamer team, the Associate Editor also manages a set of SEO terms that they are personally responsible for, rotated by other members of the team. The Associate Editor monitors the performance of these stories, involving other staff and departments like the Audience Development team as needed to achieve competitive success.

In addition, as needed the Associate Editor will be part of an editing pool that raises colleagues' work to our high standard. As with all members of the PC Gamer team, the Associate Editor is expected to own each step of the publishing process, from image capture and headlining to crafting the best social media message to promote their work.
