About the Team

Tech B2B includes Tech Radar Pro, IT Pro Portal, and IT Pro. The wider B2B division includes Smartbrief, AV Tech, M&E, and Tech & Learning and works as a global team with a focus on high-value audience for our brands.

About the Role

As News Editor (IT Pro), you will be responsible for three main areas:

  1. Managing the daily news output, including working with writers on pitches and editing/optimising content
  2. Working with other stakeholders to ensure news content has maximum effect and reach, whether through SEO, direct traffic or other distribution channels, such as newsletters, social and more
  3. Assisting with news-related tasks as requested by your line manager/key stakeholders

The role is part time - 3 days a week 22.5 hours ideally Monday - Wednesday.

Key Responsibilities

Development of IT Pro’s editorial news strategy

  • Use knowledge of tech industry, strategy and competition/industry to continuously created exciting and engaging news-driven content across multiple platforms and distribution channels

Development of news writing staff

  • Ensure the brand position and editorial voice for news content remains key -and, in particular, in line with Future’s ESG around fake news and misinformation
  • Work with management, tech, development and audience teams to develop the most compelling news opportunities for IT Pro/B2B
  • Assist the senior editorial team in developing a successful B2B news portfolio.

Commercial partnerships

  • Support the effective creation and delivery of commercial partnerships through high-trafficked news content
  • Assist key stakeholders with reactive and proactive ideas generation that is both news related and news adjacent to the benefit of our audience and commercial partners

Development of group editorial strategy

  • Use knowledge of tech industry, strategy and competition to help develop a portfolio sell for both audience and commercial

Requirements

  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Fantastic communication skills
  • The ability to lead by example and plan and execute news content strategy
  • Help maintain and develop high performing individual writers and news teams
  • Communicate effectively with writers and senior management
  • Inspire colleagues and demonstrate a clear vision for success
  • Work collaboratively with the team and other stakeholders/brands to build and maintain a successful B2B division
