The Dodo is looking for a highly skilled affiliate and SEO writer to join its commerce team. On a day-day-basis, you’ll own pitching, researching and writing articles about pet wellness and pet products. You will ensure all content meets brand standards for voice, trustworthiness and monetization optimization. You’ll ensure all content is highly optimized for SEO, and designed to increase affiliate revenue. You will also use your SEO and affiliate knowledge to participate in discussions around coverage areas, packaging and strategy.

We are looking for someone with superb writing and grammar skills, and an exceptional track record of success in affiliate and SEO content. The successful candidate will be creative and adaptable, and able to channel the Dodo brand into a fun, relatable, identifiable written voice. But you will also ground your work in analytics and best practices, have a keen eye for business and always be thinking about how to optimize for monetization.

You are intensely reliable and accountable; you can work quickly and independently but welcome feedback from a collaborative team environment; you are positive and can-do even under pressure; and you are motivated by change and success and always want to stay two steps ahead of industry and brand best practices.

Most of our content will be targeted at pet owners, so applicants who have pets, past or present, are a huge plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing affiliate articles for all animal lovers, particularly pet parents, that drive clicks and contribute to significant revenue stream
  • Writing fun, informative SEO-driven pet wellness pieces that build an engaged, trusting audience of pet owners
  • Owning all aspects of article production, including pitching, researching and packaging
  • Obsessing over data and analytics to optimize articles, and help build team best practices on both creative and monetization fronts
  • Writing copy for company projects and initiatives on an as-needed basis
  • Intense SEO optimization on front and back ends, including helping other team members who have less SEO experience

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in writing affiliate and SEO-driven content, with a quantifiable track record of achievement
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills
  • Creative voice that can adapt itself to a variety of platforms and content types, while staying true to the Dodo brand
  • Ability to marry creative skills with a deep understanding of business and analytics goals
  • Reliable and independent self-starter, but with a positive and team-friendly attitude
  • Love of animals and familiarity with the Dodo brand — pet owners are a plus
