The HarperOne Group is currently seeking a Designer to create original covers and jackets for the HarperVia, Amistad, HarperEspañol, and MLK Library imprints.


  • Designs original covers and jackets (hardcover and paperback).
  • Designs and routes jacket and cover mechanicals and works collaboratively with Art Director and Senior Designer through to production stage.
  • Makes reprint corrections.
  • Makes backlist corrections.
  • Assists with image research.
  • Converts hardcover designs to paperback format.
  • Provides general assistance on special projects.


  • Minimum 3 years of design experience required
  • Book cover design experience strongly preferred
  • Strong illustration and hand-lettering skills (preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize under pressure
  • Strong Mac skills and design competence with InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • A strong interest in books (fiction and nonfiction)
  • Awareness of design and market trends
  • Ability to speak and read Spanish a plus

This role is currently based out of New York, New York. You will need to commute to the office when it reopens.
