HarperCollins is currently seeking a Senior Editor for the Harper imprint. In this role you will acquire lead-level titles with an emphasis on non-fiction.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain agent and author relationships.
- Actively solicit, acquire, evaluate, and develop proposals and book concepts.
- Champion books through the publishing process.
- Maintain an effective relationship with art, managing editorial, production, and other support departments.
- Oversee the preparation of fact sheet, jacket, and catalog copy; and review marketing and publicity materials.
- Conduct and evaluate sales research, as it relates to comprehension of P&Ls.
- Work constructively with marketing and publicity departments in building author-specific promotional plans.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant editorial experience
- Established agency contacts
- Acquisition and publication of profitable and/or critically viable projects
- Optimistic and innovative outlook toward publishing
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Eloquent and savvy presentation abilities
- Effective, productive communication with colleagues
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and set priorities under pressure
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office
