The HarperCollins Children's Books Direct-to-Consumer group is a strategic, growing business within the wider corporation. HarperCollins Publishers is the second largest trade book publisher in the world, and has been in operation for over 200 years. This is a small, driven team focused on scaling and expanding our direct-to-consumer subscription business to young readers and their families.
The Manager, Business Analytics and Strategic Finance, oversees business performance analytics and reporting, financial reporting, payments, and inventory. The role is a true partner to the Vice President, Direct-to-Consumer, and vital member of DTC team. This role is an opportunity to own, shape, and evolve a business as it grows
Responsibilities
- Seek, find, and execute opportunities to grow revenue, reduce customer churn, and deliver efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain a complex forecasting model(s) to provide insights and analysis to support decision-making.
- Define, own, execute, and optimize all business performance analyses to inform business decisions, strategies, and action in line with business objectives.
- Includes regular oversight of subscription metrics including cohort analysis and ad hoc analyses, both self-generated and generated by business team.
- Lead across business team, data engineering, and data science to define and execute analyses, regular automated reporting, and dashboarding.
- Maintain accurate visibility of inventory of supply and products, working closely with central inventory and forecasting functions as relates to DTC business, and incorporating supply chain best practices.
- Manage and implement efficiencies and best practices across, third-party payment processors.
- Bridge business performance metrics with financial reporting.
- Regularly report business performance, both to DTC team and up to the executive level.
- Fluency in various reporting systems, both internal and portals, from third-party partners.
Financial reporting responsibilities
- Process annual and three-year plan budget; build a budget that incorporates business reporting and strategic goals.
- Month-end activities, with closing of month and forecasting.
- Process monthly invoices.
Qualifications
- Fluency in the financial drivers of a subscription business model
- Strategic thinker, with an eye for detail
- Ability to think critically and analytically
- Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and desire to learn
- Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent Microsoft Excel ability; strong ability in Word and PowerPoint
- Interest in publishing or media, or children's products, a plus
