Position Overview:

Associate Editor at this dynamic healthcare media company will assist with researching, writing, editing and producing a variety of patient-education content for both magazines and digital formats (such as digital guides, websites and videos). Ideal candidate has prior experience with health content and/or a strong interest in health, looks forward to collaborating with leading healthcare professionals and enjoys inspiring others through powerful storytelling. ****Please provide up to 3 clips or links to your work****

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and interviews real patient subjects for true life content.
  • Identifies and interviews key opinion leaders and other healthcare providers.
  • Assigns articles to freelancers.
  • Assists with copyediting and proofreading.
  • Assists with uploading and performing quality checks on digital content.
  • Creates editorial maps for own projects.
  • Edits content according to house style, ensuring it meets formatting and quality standards.
  • Works with designers to select and finalize artwork, photography and text.
  • Collaborates with other departments as needed.
  • Ensures content is produced on deadline and within budget.
  • Examines physical proofs of printed materials.
  • Confirms that publications meet client specifications.
  • Stays up to date on health news and trends.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent research skills
  • Proficient with text management and desktop publishing software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or related field required.
  • At least three years of related experience in editing and publishing.

ADA- Physical Demands of the Position:

Ability to frequently sit at a desk working on a computer for extended periods of time.

Must be willing to comply with all COVID related office policies and procedures as related to health screenings or personal protective equipment.
