KCRA 3, the news leader in Sacramento and a Hearst Television station, is looking for an ambitious and hardworking part-time Associate Producer. The qualified candidate will assist producers in all aspects of producing a newscast. This includes creating content for television, digital and social platforms. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to get a foot in the door and start a career in journalism with KCRA and Hearst Television. In person attendance is required.

Job Duties

  • Research and write stories for our newscasts.
  • Understand social media best practices to create content on our digital platforms.
  • Make follow-up calls and beat calls.
  • Assist with booking interviews for newscasts.
  • Collaborate with our executive producers and directors to create eye-catching graphics.
  • In-person attendance is required.


Required Skills

  • Strong news judgment
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to calmly handle live breaking news
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Communicate effectively with assignment editors, producers, reporters, photographers, editors, production staff and news managers.


Required Qualifications

  • In-progress or completed Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field preferred
  • Must be willing to work mornings, weekends and holidays.
  • Bilingual experience is a plus.
  • Hearst Television is a proud supporter of military veterans. Military DINFOS experience will be considered.
