We're hiring a well-rounded media person to keep our news website updated with fresh news on a daily basis. We use a Wordpress platform that has been customized for us. We publish content from a number of sources, including original content from our staff. We are also a member of AP Storyshare, so we pull stories from that site. We also collaborate with other news outlets and post and publish those stories. We would like our new hire to also be a contributing writer for quick turnaround stories. For example, November is Native American Heritage Month. Let's share a quick story on this. We also receive and publish press releases. We also have a place on our website to post press releases. In today's media market, it's expected the person chosen to work with us will practice audience engagement on our facebook and twitter accounts for @buffalosfire. The Indigenous Media Freedom Alliance is a non-profit news organization. Check us out here:

We are a member of the Institute for Nonprofit News.  We publish our news on Buffalo's Fire is the first Native news organization to become a member of The Trust Project, an initiative that allows readers to assess the integrity of a news site. Read more here.

We are small, but growing independent news site that focuses on the American Indian community. We are working towards reporting on more local news, but we do a healthy mix of regional and national stories, too. We expect to soon have our first full-time reporter. Right now, we rely on freelancers and one part-time reporter.

We welcome your ideas on how to make our site a go-to source for readers.
