BioPharma Dive is looking for bright, curious and creative journalists who are excited to join an experienced team covering the fast-moving biotech and pharmaceutical industry.

In this role, you will help us report on the business of drug development by telling the stories of the companies, scientists and investors involved in bringing new medicines to market. As part of your regular responsibilities, you will report and write quick-turn news briefs as well as feature-length stories, and help us launch and establish a weekly newsletter.

Specifically, you will lead our coverage of emerging biotech startups and the ecosystem that supports them. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of a dynamic and exciting beat and build the newsletter into a valuable reader product.

This position reports to the lead editor.

What you can bring to the table:

  • A proven track record of strong writing and reporting skills
  • Deep curiosity about the biotech and pharmaceuticals beat
  • Familiarity with business journalism and ability to interpret business concepts
  • Aptitude for building source relationships to advance original reporting
  • Ability to write under deadline in a fast-paced news environment
  • At least 3 years of experience in journalism

We’d love it if you had the following:

  • A year or more experience covering biotech or pharmaceutical companies, clinical trials, the Food and Drug Administration or broader scientific research
  • Strong track record of writing enterprise features that go beyond the news and advance broader narratives
  • Familiarity with company creation, venture capital and the initial public offering process
  • Familiarity with publishing daily or weekly email newsletters
