Position Focus:

The mission of the Yale Center for Customer Insights (YCCI) is to advance new thinking on customers through partnerships between thought leaders in industry and academia. Partnering with Faculty Director and Executive Directors of YCCI, the Director manages and develops a portfolio of marketing & insights projects with leading corporations and works with faculty to apply behavioral science frameworks to address challenges around behavior changes. The broader portfolio of YCCI is comprised of the following: action-oriented learning programs for graduate students & executives; analytics & experimentation projects with corporate affiliate partners that engage faculty, fuel research, and help answer marketing leaders' questions; communications & events that disseminates academic research to marketing and insights community. The Director is integral partner to center leadership and partners with staff and faculty to drive growth for YCCI as outlined below.

Project Leadership: Align with insights and marketing leaders at partner organizations to identify and solve business problems requiring behavior change based on rigorous frameworks developed by center faculty. Manage all operational aspects of marketing & research projects, including working with faculty leads and corporate partners to scope projects, draft proposals & execute timelines. Employ a full range of marketing skills to ensure end-to-end management of project work streams. Develop robust internal & external feedback system with partners, faculty, and staff. Work with partners to ensure insights are being actioned. Develop a way to track insights implementation & lead creatively across organizations, address roadblocks. Analyze & synthesize consumer behavioral insights from multiple sources to develop rapid online testing and surveys, leading to realistic, insightful & actionable recommendations.

Partner Relationship & Experience Management: Deliver a high-touch, professional experience for the partners engaged in projects. Identify ways to articulate & enhance the value that YCCI can bring to organization, e.g., identifying new opportunities to action insights or ways to deepen engagement with YCCI or Yale SOM overall. Work with the Faculty Director and Executive Director(s) to manage the YCCI advisory board. Executive Education

Experience Management: Lead delivery of a high-touch, professional experience for participants in the Center's Behavioral Economics Immersion and one-day workshops with corporate partners. Proactively identify opportunities & develop systems to continuously improve efficiency, drive innovation and elevate participant experience and satisfaction.

Personnel Management: Co-manage and mentor a team and assign projects based on center priorities & mission.

Essential Duties:

Lead both informal and formal debriefings with corporate partners for each project phase. Develop a more robust internal and external feedback system with partners, faculty, and staff. Work with partners to ensure insights are being actioned within the organization. Develop a way to track insights implementation, and lead creatively across organizations to address any roadblocks. Partner Relationship & Experience Management: Deliver a high-touch, professional experience for the partners engaged in projects with the Center. Develop an engagement strategy for corporate partners to enhance the impact of projects and help translate the learnings within the corporation. Work with the Faculty Director and Executive Director(s) to manage the YCCI advisory board and participate in the planning and execution of the annual board meeting and board communication. Marketing and Development: Identify and cultivate new strategic partners for the YCCI who are: intellectually curious to advance knowledge on customers, committed to building long-term collaborative relationships, and will benefit from the Center’s expertise in behavioral science and customer analytics. Lead the development of a strategic communication plan targeting new affiliate partners. Develop or expand new programs as needed on the Center’s IP to deepen engagement with existing and new corporate partners.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and seven years of related work experience in a related field, such as Insights, Marketing Management or Consulting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Proven project leadership & marketing management experience at rank of director or higher, consultant or market expert. Ability to transition from broad strategic perspective to tactical, action-oriented approach. Commitment to an inclusive workplace. Track record of building and leading diverse, inclusive teams.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Working knowledge of a diverse array of market research techniques/models/analyses, with expertise in a reasonable set of customer research methods (e.g., survey design, statistics, sampling theory; customer interviews and ethnography in different settings).

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Experience as a senior marketing leader in a B2B industry (at the level of director or senior director), or in a top tier management consulting firm (at senior associate or engagement management level). MBA or relevant Master's degree. Global orientation.
