At Inc., we see social media as an expression of our first-rate journalism, storytelling, and design, as critical to our success as what the articles we publish online, or in print, or on any other medium. In this role, the Social Media Producer will execute on comprehensive editorial, growth and brand strategy across all platforms. On Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, the goal will be to engage and expand Inc.’s community of followers. The Social Media Producer will look for opportunities to drive new audiences to our site on these major platforms. The Social Media Producer will also help implement strategy on visual- and video-first social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Pinterest, sharing responsibility for execution in partnership with our creative and video teams.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, goal-oriented, multi-tasking creative thinker who has some digital and multimedia experience. A passion for technology and/or business journalism is strongly encouraged. This position is represented by the Fast Company and Inc. union the Writers Guild of America-East.

Salary range: $56,000-$78,000 and bonus eligible. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, industry, and education.


  • Bringing editorial judgment and fresh thinking about storytelling to all aspects of our work on social media
  • Helping execute social media strategy to drive traffic, increase engagement, and convert new readers to premium subscribers
  • Implementing best practices, processes and quantifiable goals for the department
  • Optimizing content across social platforms, including which platform is best for various content subjects
  • Effectively balancing Inc.’s brand voice with day-to-day traffic goals
  • Collaborating with multiple teams across the company, including creative department on visual goals and priorities, and events and direct-to-consumer teams on brand extensions
  • Working with writers and editors on best practices for amplifying content on personal accounts
  • Leading relationships with social sites and other digital partners
  • Work on other digital growth and audience development initiatives, as needed
  • Note: Occasional travel, early morning, late night, or weekend work may be required, related to news or events


  • 1-3 years of social media experience in a daily-focused media environment; candidates with strong internship experience also considered
  • Proficiency with social listening tools, web analytics, and data reporting to inform strategic practices
  • Strong sense of voice, sound editorial judgment, a visual eye, and a highly-organized and communicative management style
  • Constant pulse on of-the-moment social trends
  • Collaborative, creative, and outgoing attitude
  • A passion for and working knowledge of Inc.’s journalism, as well as a strong understanding of our traditional and rising competitors
