Job Description

The Information Technology and Broadcast Scheduling Technician will assist the Dynamic Captioning IT department in maintaining and troubleshooting the Windows 10 Pro environment, hardware systems, internet applications and security systems, as well as assisting with the coordination, scheduling and monitoring of live captioning broadcasts in the Realtime Traffic department. The role will provide support to clients and remote caption writers to ensure service obligations, goals and program procedures are met, providing overall assistance as it relates to program coverage, preparation, and transmission of live-display captions and future projects. The role works under the general direction of the Operations Manager. The Information Technology and Broadcast Scheduling Technician is expected to work a non-traditional work week, which will include weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary to meet program coverage commitments.

Essential Job Functions

30% - Diagnose computer and software problems, monitor computer processing systems, install software and perform tests on computer equipment and programs. Set up computer equipment, schedule maintenance, train team members and vendors to use programs, and execute minor repairs.

30% - Monitor captioned broadcasts as assigned and troubleshoot issues during live broadcasts as required. This includes maintaining broadcast protocol regarding "early check in", creating daily reports on writer quality and dependability.

25% - Scheduling responsibilities including monitoring email and phone calls, scheduling and executing support tickets with writers, clients and team members. Confirming orders with clients via email, assist in entering orders into the web-based scheduling system and assigning writers to programs. Functioning as a liaison between clients and captioning personnel in both technical and scheduling roles.

10% - Keep abreast of all departmental requirements. Assist in the gathering and dissemination of program related information.

5% - Complete assigned projects and other related assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education: High School Diploma required. Certificate or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Information Systems required.

Experience: IT experience preferred. Familiarity with broadcast television a plus.
