We’re looking for an Associate Multiplatform Editor – a self-starter and strong writer with an editorial eye for what engages audiences. If you’re a creative thinker who loves to spot a story before it goes viral, this is the job for you.

The ideal candidate has a passion for creating compelling homepage and SEO headlines, mobile alerts and social copy while seamlessly using data and analytics to inform content distribution, curation and packaging. The Associate Multiplatform Editor will be obsessed with data and analytics, A/B testing and finding the elements within a story that will resonate with audiences. This role also requires a strong awareness of the TODAY brand and broadcast with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines


This position is represented by the NewsGuild-CWA.

Responsibilities/Job Duties:
  • Curate TODAY.com homepage during broadcast hours with a mix of stories and videos that give the TODAY audience everything they need to know to start their day
  • Curate TODAY Mobile app to reflect latest content, special packages, and promotions.
  • Publish and pitch any stories that have been pre-pitched.
  • Create and curate special package fronts, video fronts, diversity fronts, etc.
  • Use-real time analytics to help inform story packaging, posting and curation.
  • Continually iterate on strategy that fits with the TODAY brand.
  • Coordinate with editors and producers on broadcast, site programming and social team to assist in promotion or prep for the following day
Assist news/trending team on story production.



Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and comparable work
experience.
• 2+ years of working in a digital newsroom writing/editing
experience in a newsroom.
• Expertise writing SEO and social headline
• Knowledge of AP style, writing and editing experience

needs to know and would want to find on the homepage.
• You’re obsessed with the latest trends on social media
and know how to turn those trends into shareable stories
• Savvy with Domo and Chartbeat: You use analytics to
help guide homepage placement and pivot based on
performance.
• Armed with a positive attitude and an open mind, you’re
eager to help when needed and take feedback or
criticism well.
• Desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive but
highly rewarding news environment
• An awareness of TODAY personalities and brands.
