Senior Release Manager

The Peacock Sports & Entertainment team is looking to add a talented Senior Release Manager to be part of our Engineering Organization.

The Peacock Sports & Entertainment team builds dynamic applications using cutting-edge technology to deliver performant applications, focusing on user experience. We are looking for a dynamic team player who is an owner, accountable and passionate about technology. You will be working on high-visibility applications serving millions of users for industry-leading sporting and entertainment events, such as the Super Bowl, Olympics, Premier League, and America’s Got Talent. You will be responsible for optimizing the release process that smoothly transitions the engineering process from an agile development team to a highly effective operations team and communicate the status of releases to all stakeholders. Working with your peers in other disciplines to coordinate the delivery of various components of our streaming applications and leverage data driven approach to drive recommendations for future improvements in the overall release process.

Responsibilities

  • Organize Releases, track and manage risks to Release timelines and drive resolutions
  • Define and evolve existing frameworks for release management activities such as feature tracking, app store submissions, SLAs with stakeholders based on data analysis and more, and then drive alignment across all stakeholders
  • Work with development teams to identify roadblocks before they occur and help develop mitigating plans of action
  • Communicate the impact of feature or schedule changes to teams that are potentially affected
  • Collaborate with teams to research, identify, design, and develop tools to allow efficient configuration management, build, and release of software.
  • Ensure that each component and product platform releases have proper versioning and release notes along with the needed security scans and audits before deployment.
  • Serve as a change management champion for development and release processes, services creation, and architecture roadmaps to ensure proper best practices across development teams.
  • Lead and coordinate the product launch activities including release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, go/no go meetings, and the execution of launch plans and checklists.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with operations teams to ensure continuous environment readiness, successful deployments, and high availability of dependent services across Development, Testing, Staging, and Production systems and associated monitoring services.
  • Participate, facilitate, and/or lead large or complex troubleshooting activities that require significant judgment and reasoning outside area of expertise
  • Communicate plans, status, and issues related to Product Release within Engineering and to Leadership teams.





- 5+ years of prior release management experience on cloud native web portfolio, microservices and other software components.
- Strong knowledge in releasing clients via external partners (Apple, Amazon, Roku, Samsung, Google, etc.) on variety of platforms including legal entity setup and global application deployment
- Strong understanding of cloud-based application development, agile driven processes that includes CI/CD, Security Scans, Branching and Code versioning
- Experience working with experimentation, feature flags enablement, A/B testing from an engineering team, or business perspective
- Strong understanding of development methodologies such as Scrum and Agile
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills along with excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation and problem resolution in a cross-functional team
- Participates in change management practices by maintaining a release repository and release notifications
- Experience and proficient in CI/CD tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, Fastlane etc.
- Proficient in Git, Git commands and various Git workflows
- Experience on cloud computing platforms like AWS and CDN like Akamai amongst others.
- Experience working on applications and streaming products that support linear video streaming and VOD content
- Good communication skills with different types of stakeholders such as QA, Project Managers and Product Owners
- Ability to learn new development and productivity tools in order to continuously improve effectiveness
