Role Summary/Purpose:
The supervising producer for editorial newsgathering works directly with the SVP of editorial, deputy director, correspondents, producers and staff to generate and oversee production of hard news and enterprise segments for MSNBC and NBC News Now.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage production team from story inception through air
  • Work with producers to develop and craft original news of day and feature stories on cable and streaming
  • Oversee pitch process, including leading brainstorms and generating story ideas
  • Work with key stakeholders across units and platforms to coordinate coverage
  • Serve as leader and mentor in the newsroom fostering an inclusive culture
  • Manage award submissions and help coordinate entries for MSNBC Reports
  • Supervise direct reports


Basic Qualifications:
• Must have at least seven years of editorial experience working in production at the network or cable news level
• Must have prior staff management experience
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree
• Must have strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and editorial judgment
• Must have field producing experience
• Must have packaging experience
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.
