Director, Client Strategy

Reporting to the Vice President, Client Strategy; the Client Strategy Director is part of the team responsible for developing deep knowledge of assigned industries/clients and translating that knowledge into innovative client focused NBCU platform solutions. This team is also responsible for creating internal and external thought-leadership grounded in culture, marketplace, and category trends.

The Director is a leader of the day-to-day management and execution of the category strategies, a creator of and contributor to thought leadership, and a key collaborator with teams across the NBCUniversal Ad Sales organization.

  • Be a critical member of the “go-to,” expert team for key industry/category intelligence across key categories such as Auto, Pharma, and Healthcare across the NBCUniversal Ad Sales division
  • Build, develop, and maintain deep understanding of relevant categories and their strategic issues, competitive landscape, potential disruptors, and new initiatives and effectively synthesize for broader team
  • Identify and deliver trends, insights, and strategies for the relevant categories, to support key company stakeholders and fuel growth for the NBCU Platform
  • Turn insights and trends into compelling narratives reflecting how Comcast/NBCUniversal platform can achieve clients’ goals
  • Identify and define areas for growth including potential revenue/market share gains and partner with sales to capitalize on those opportunities
  • Maintain on-going understanding and knowledge of evolving consumer behaviors, and media industry trends
  • Contribute to thought-leadership projects rooted in category, culture, and marketplace trends
  • Lead and participate in projects using consumer and marketplace insights to generate new revenue opportunities across NBCUniversal
  • Present and lead discussions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Advocate and promote category materials and client solutions
  • Lead, guide, and inspirate a team of junior team members while managing timelines and workflow
  • Support the Vice President on client, category, and company projects


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
• 8+ years in relevant experience (agency strategy/planning, performance/digital marketing, brand/management consulting, client-side marketing/media/digital)
• Successful candidate must be a strategic thinker, with the ability to turn insights into action
• Understanding of media industry tools to help drive data, insights, and trends across key categories
• Highly proficient in media and comms strategy - and embrace the evolving dynamics within each to solve client specific challenges
• Skilled at leading collaborative efforts across multiple teams, such as client campaigns / initiatives, ensuring the client / agency has their needs met
• Capable of handling multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
• Proactively anticipate needs and deliver to internal stakeholders and clients
• Excellent executive-level presentation, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing and presentation skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling narratives
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately with excellent attention to detail
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Prior experience with industry/ category strategy across key verticals such as Automotive, Technology, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, Retail, Finance, or Luxury is a plus

• Understanding of the creative/campaign development process
• Passionate about consumer insights, content, digital media, and business
