Dreamworks is looking for an engineer to join our Web Tools development team. The Web Tools team is responsible for the development, iteration and maintenance of web applications that offer rich, visual, and intuitive experience for Production Users.

“What would you say you do here?”
  • Collaborate with UX, Engineering, and Production on the development of web-based front end solutions
  • Engage with fellow developers through active participation in code reviews, design discussions, demos, proposals, and rapid prototyping
  • Dedication to an iterative development process driven by the goal to continuously improve the user experience across all types of production workflows
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and documented solutions
  • Collaborate with backend engineering teams through traces, metrics, and requirements to inform development priorities and to focus performance related development
  • Deploy applications regularly adhering to studio standards and best practices
  • Participate in requirements gathering to inform design and development
  • Participate in user observation studies to be regularly evaluating how users work and identifying where improvements can be made
  • Follow standard UX design methodologies throughout the development process


“What do I need to have in order to do this job?”

● Experience programming in Javascript, HTML and CSS
● Proficiency in modern web application features and design goals (i.e. Web Components, Responsive Design, and Progressive Applications)
● Experience with modern frameworks, standards, and technologies used in front end web development (i.e. Polymer, React, Angular, Vue, Redux)
● Strong communication, collaboration, and problem solving skills
● Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
● Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced protocols if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal/DreamWorks Animation worksite.
● Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

“What can I offer?”

● Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
● Awareness of UX design principles and best practices
● Experience working closely with UX design teams and backend development teams
● Experience with scripting languages such as Python
● Production experience in computer animation, visual effects, or game industry
● A portfolio of user interface samples that demonstrates skill and passion
● Experience with node.js and writing NPM modules
