Summary of Position

Newsday Media Group is looking for a Broadcast Graphic Designer to join our NewsdayTV team. The broadcast graphic designer will be responsible for creating on-air graphics and animations for newscasts, online presentations and live events. To achieve these assignments, Broadcast Graphic Designer will work with producers and editors throughout the multimedia department, TV studio and newsroom.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • The candidate will use programs including After Effects, Photoshop, VizRT, Pilot Edge, Viz Arc to create modern, elegant, and intelligent news graphics for pre-production, post-production, and live newscasts.

  • In collaboration with the design team and producers/writers, the right candidate will create a variety of newscast and post-production graphics. Including, but not limited to, opening animations, transitions, over-the-shoulder boxes, maps, logo curation, set design, and segment branding. While maintaining the NewsdayTV brand on air.

  • Candidate will provide creative and graphic support where needed. Including Newsday.com, Studio 2, social media channels, and more.

  • The candidate will provide additional support in designing and coding within Viz Artist and Pilot Edge.

Essential Job Knowledge & Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in Design, Journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience with motion graphics, logo design, typography, and 2D/3D animation are required.

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe CC (After Effects & Photoshop required).

  • Knowledge of VIZrt is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Video Editing a plus.

  • Familiar with Mac-based computers.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional artistic ability, have a thorough knowledge of computer graphics equipment and techniques.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is required.

  • Must possess a flexible and varied schedule to include weekends, holidays, and extended hours throughout the day.

  • This is a hybrid position. Employees are generally required to work in the office a minimum of three (3) days per week.

Compensation

  • The annual salary for this position is $85,000.
