Ready to eat the world and tell the stories of the people behind the food? Northern Virginia Magazine is seeking a food critic/editor obsessed with all things edible to lead coverage of the diverse and dynamic food scene stretching from Arlington to Middleburg.

The opportunities know no bounds when it comes to a position that allows the successful candidate to write anonymously reported restaurant reviews as well as manage the food section in print and online. The food critic/editor will create a fresh, photo-filled food section each month, each bursting with reviews, listicles, features, and anything they can dream up.

Besides the monthly print section, each year the food critic/editor will oversee four food-and-drink cover packages, including the annual 50 Best Restaurants list. Online, the food critic/editor will write and edit listicles, reviews, and breaking food news.

Northern Virginia Magazine is the premiere lifestyle glossy in Northern Virginia with a monthly readership of more than 150,000 food-curious consumers. Food stories are perennially the most clicked-on articles across the publication, and are a top priority within the magazine.

The food critic/editor should know how to shape content to reach digital and print audiences and be able to juggle projects on multiple platforms. The candidate should be able to write quickly and thoughtfully and manage time efficiently.

What we’re looking for

At least ten years of journalism experience, with five or more writing about food and dining

At least five years of editing experience

Expertise and interest in all forms of social media

Knowledge of food trends and world cuisine

To write ANONYMOUSLY reported restaurant reviews
