Billboard is hiring a Staff Writer to be based in Nashville. With a renowned authority among artists, fans and the industry, Billboard powers the ultimate global music destination and magazine, featuring unrivaled reporting on music news, issues and trends, and the industry’s definitive charts.
We are hiring a staff writer to cover the country music market, which includes writing breaking news stories, features stories, trend stories, concert reviews, a weekly roundup of the top country releases and more. This person will be Billboard’s main boots-on-the-ground reporter in Nashville, working hand in hand with our Executive Editor to expand Billboard’s country coverage. The Staff Writer will also help drive conversation around country music on Billboard’s social media channels.
The Staff Writer should:
- Have strong writing and reporting skills
- Be a country music fan and be knowledgeable not only about current acts but have a sense of history
- Be as comfortable interviewing label executives as you would artists and have a desire to cover the industry, not just the artists and the music
- High comfort level engaging on an array of social media platforms
- Have 1-3-years’ experience covering country music
- Be a self-starter, but work well with taking direction and guidance.
