Penske Media, owner of over 20 leading media brands, is looking for talented individuals to join the video team at Billboard, Vibe and The Hollywood Reporter to fill the role of Technical Director for our LA Office. This role is leader within the production team, responsible for the seamless technical execution, including lighting, sound, picture, for all of our video content. This is a unique opportunity to join an innovative, mission-based company and make an immediate impact on a growing video team.
Among many exciting things ahead, Billboard News is being re-launched as a daily variety show, comprised of daily news discussion, chart releases, on location reporting, artist interviews, performances and more! It will be at the forefront of daily content, news and reporting from the Billboard team. This is a dynamic role that requires experience and technical savvy for live and live to tape show production and holistic understanding of lighting, sound, and cameras. Working alongside the Supervising Producer and production team, the Technical Director will ensure seamless execution of the shoots and all technical aspects of show filming and production.
- Responsible for overseeing all technical aspects, including but not limited to picture, lighting, and sound, of Billboard News, event, and editorial video content.
- Create and spec various production packages, including audio, video, lighting and labor
- Oversee any freelance crew members hired for News or other shoots, event coverage
- Oversee and manage crew on-set for Billboard News or other shoots
- Oversee and spec any virtual productions
- Travel as needed for site inspections and coverage
- Set up and operation of production equipment
- Should have a minimum 5-7 years experience leading technical production in digital and/or TV news or event streaming
- Proficiency with camera equipment, shooting, lighting and sound
- Proven experience with multi-camera production and live streaming, with extraordinary attention to detail
- Passion and excitement for new technologies, development, and production
- Self-starter who is used to working with tight deadlines and minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented approach with the ability to manage and direct a crew on set
- Thorough understanding of production software tools
