Executive Director, Head of Event Programming

FMG is looking for an experienced Director of Event Programming to oversee, manage and support talent and speaker integration into global events and business programs across WWD, Beauty Inc, Footwear News and Sourcing Journal. In this role, Director of Event Programming will partner with FMG editorial, events, marketing, and sales to develop strategies around a calendar of live and virtual conferences, forums, summits, webinars, reports, videos, podcasts, and awards shows to extend FMG’s authority in the fashion, beauty, footwear, and retail space with a specific focus on speaker selection and content curation

Responsibilities:

  • Develop compelling content for live and virtual events as outlined in the FMG global calendar
  • Conduct speaker research; assist with recruitment of talent, guests, and speakers for project, including facilitating talent agreements
  • Help support programming, including making speaker recommendations and overseeing outreach; Source and book speakers/talent and topics across Fairchild’s relevant categories
  • Oversee all talent scheduling and with, direct and guide speakers/talent through the live and/or virtual event experience
  • Collaborate with FMG editorial team on the editorial agenda and oversee content direction and quality
  • Partner with FMG Events team to facilitate all aspects of speaker integration into event production leading up to event and have a strong voice in the development of overall event branding and execution where needed
  • Maintain consistent dialogue with marketing and sales teams to adapt audience development and/or sales strategies as required to meet financial projections for the project
  • Develop decks, scripts, talking points for speakers, talent, and Fairchild executives to align with the event message and FMG brand
  • Manage deep-rooted relationships with clients and agencies
  • Maintain and grow strong relationships with thought-leaders, talent agents, publicists, and influencers to enhance programming opportunities

Requirements:

  • 8-10 years’ relevant work experience
  • Experience in an events/conferences environment/team
  • Ability to effectively work cross-departmentally, and in a client-facing capacity
  • Prior experience in writing, proofreading, and editing
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal
  • Strong team player who can build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Proactive, highly organized, and extremely detail-oriented
  • Maintains composure under pressure and highly adaptable
  • Self-starter with new, relevant ideas and concepts to the team; problem-solver
  • Creative thinker who is respectful of colleagues, peers, and various points of view
  • Travel is required, including occasional late nights and weekends
