Footwear News, the publication of record for senior footwear and fashion executives and a must-read for shoe-obsessed consumers, is seeking a smart, dynamic and innovative Assistant Digital Editor to join our New York or Los Angeles team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized team member to pitch, write, and produce daily stories.
The work schedule for this position is Tuesday – Saturday, 9am – 6pm ET.
- Pitch, write and produce 6 trending stories daily on a range of topics (fashion, retail, current events, business news, sports, shopping and pop culture) for Footwearnews.com
- Respond quickly to breaking stories with fresh angles; write clean copy under tight deadlines; construct engaging headlines
- Hit consistent/demonstrated traffic growth
- Support FN’s social media efforts
- Availability for award show coverage and flexibility
- Hours would be 9-6ET; Tuesday-Saturday schedule
- 1 to 2 years at a website
- Must be organized and enthusiastic
- Can-do attitude
- Fast learner
- Able to work well under pressure and in fast-paced environment
- Excellent ability to prioritize throughout the day, according to news demands
- Strong communication and writing skills
- The ability to juggle many projects at once, working both individually and as part of a team
- A demonstrated understanding of digital strategy, Crowdtangle, Newswhip, WordPress, Google analytics, SEO, Photoshop, social media platforms
- Knows or willing to learn video and digital media editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, After Effects
