Our Global Strategy & Corporate Development is seeking a Project Manager to join our team, reporting to the Director.
We are a fast-paced, collaborative team that works closely with the Global CEO of Penguin Random House on a broad range of strategic and operational topics. Every day, we partner with PRH senior leadership locally and globally across corporate departments, publishing divisions, international territories, and shareholders to advance the development and execution of strategic projects. Our scope is an ever-evolving mix of topics at the center of publishing today. Typical tasks include implementing strategic initiatives, exploring new market and business opportunities, and developing market analyses. Each project we undertake brings unique insight and exposure to the inner workings of Penguin Random House and our parent company, Bertelsmann – and the opportunity to drive our global agenda.
As the Project Manager, you will work with an agile team of project managers, data scientists, and data engineers across multiple geographies to drive our global data priorities. We have a wide mandate to build global capabilities. In this role, you will work on a variety of high-profile projects in collaboration with key decision-makers across the organization to roll out data products such as dashboards and machine learning systems across PRH businesses around the world.
We are a global team that works collaboratively from across multiple geographies in North America and Europe, and we will consider applicants based in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain.
What’s the opportunity?
* Directly involved in driving and supporting high-impact data projects tied to PRH global strategy
* High level of exposure to tech and data teams across PRH and a strong vantage point from which to learn about cross-functional business operations
* Work on a dynamic range of data projects and scale of PRH’s data and analytics capabilities around the world

Key responsibilities
* Scale our overall data infrastructure, including a development environment that analysts around the world can use to create global solutions
* Identify data gaps, prioritize new data requirements, and accelerate data ingestion into the global data warehouse across key PRH markets in collaboration with the central data engineering team
* Work together with teams around the world to facilitate data collection and standardize external vendors for data capture across multiple geographies
* Support the creation of a wide range of global tools and capabilities spanning sales forecasting, trend identification, performance marketing, etc., with cross-regional teams
* Run several global data forums to share knowledge and accelerate data efforts internationally

Key qualifications
* A proven track record in project management that directly drive the strategic initiatives
* Familiarity with project management tools and processes such as JIRA and with different project management methodologies, especially Agile and Waterfall
* Basic SQL skills required to understand table content and structure
* Strong organizational skills to manage multiple, competing priorities and projects simultaneously, without losing sight of the highest priority items
* Professional demeanor with strong written and oral communication English skills, including developing coherent, concise emails
* Assertive and diplomatic; self-directing; able to manage stakeholders across the organization with influence
* Experience working in multi-cultural and international environments across different time zone
* Highly dynamic, organized, self-motivated, with a strong ability to prioritize, plan, and execute multiple projects and deadlines
* Strong attention to detail when pivoting from the macro-level to the micro-level, so that the team can deliver cross-functional projects spanning different geographies
* Able to successfully interact in a dynamic work environment and stay solution-focused while strategically maneuvering unpredictable situations
* Breakthrough communication issues and effectively build relationships with stakeholders across the organization and multiple geographies
* Though publishing experience is a plus, it is not required or needed to succeed in this role —initiative, innovation, project management, communication skills, and strategic thinking are key

* Knowledge of Power BI
