Associate Producer (NYC & LA) Audio

Our team at Penguin Random House Audio is seeking an Associate Producer to join their team. The Associate Producer will oversee the production of 40-50 audiobooks per year, and will assist a team of accomplished Producers in all stages of audiobook production as needed.

From bestselling authors to emerging authors, our collaboration with content creators produces audiobooks of the highest quality that push the boundaries of the format. Some of our recent highly acclaimed audiobooks include George Saunders’ Lincoln in the Bardo, Seth Rogen’s Yearbook, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi and Keisha N. Blain’s Four Hundred Souls, and many more.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Interpret wide-ranging content and translate the written word into the audio format with a production approach that is true to the author’s vision.
* Build and maintain collaborative relationships with new and established house authors.
* Execute productions on schedule, within budget, and according to specification, and in collaboration with Pre-and Post-production departments.
* Successfully manage and oversee network of freelancers on a project-by-project basis. Assemble production team suitable to the needs of the audiobook.
* Assist producers with complex titles such as multicast productions and original content, including but not limited to script prep, tallying word counts, and assessing text for casting needs.
* Create and review credits, provide casting assistance with multi-voice productions, and conduct e-mail follow-up with authors, agents, and editors.
* Create supplemental materials for audiobooks and conduct auditions through Ahab.us.
* Enter select programs into the production workflow and provide general administrative assistance as needed.


Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
*  Minimum of 2 years’ experience in publishing, audiobooks, or related performance medium; prior experience with audiobook production is a strong plus
*  Strong verbal and written communication skills 
*  Strong investigative/decision-making and problem-solving skills
*  Strong organizational and project management skills
*  Strong teamwork ethic and willingness to pitch in when necessary
*  Ability to juggle tasks on multiple projects at the same time
*  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
*  Spanish language fluency a plus
