Community Research Manager

Penguin Random House is seeking candidates interested in engaging with readers to better understand what fuels their passion for books. We ask that you consider this position if you’re looking to collaborate with a team of innovative researchers tasked with exploring reader preferences and behaviors, and influence publishing decisions by bringing focus to the voice of the consumer.
The Consumer Research Manager will be responsible for overseeing an in-house research panel and ensuring that its membership is active, engaged, and reflects the perspectives of a diverse community of book lovers. The Manager will also conduct surveys/polls to the panel, create best practices for surveying the panel, identify opportunities for new recruits, develop sub-panels for targeted research, and maintain relationships with external panel providers/partners.
The position is part of the corporate Consumer Marketing team and will report to the Research and Insights Director. The Manager will have the opportunity to engage with analysts, researchers, and other community managers across the company’s publishing divisions and corporate teams.
Responsibilities:
* Manage the day-to-day operation of a large research panel, including oversight of sub-panels used for both quantitative and qualitative research
* Develop recruitment and incentivization initiatives across channels, including websites, social media, and special events
* Work with stakeholders to define target groups and sampling strategies
* Conduct a monthly tracker survey to the panel and present findings
* Organize survey schedules and troubleshoot response quality issues
* Create best practices for panel use and communicating to the panel
* Monitor overall panel health and panelist engagement, including new recruits, attrition rates, survey participation, community feedback, and trends
* Maintain relationships with vendor partners, including panel providers and survey platforms
Requirements:
* 1-2 years relevant work experience in a panel/community management role
* Experience planning/carrying out community initiatives
* Experience conducting surveys/polls
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
* Must be proactive and motivated
* Team player with the ability to work independently on multiple projects
* Ability to present analysis/ideas in a clear and organized way
