Salary: The position can be FT/remote/with benefits for residents of Florida or Pennsylvania OR contract for residents of other states. This is a non-manager position with an opportunity for growth. Salary range $50,000 - $55,000.

Level: Experienced (Non-Manager)

Duration: Full-Time


The Digital Marketing Associate is responsible for conceptualizing, writing, editing, producing, publishing, trafficking, and analyzing content, marketing, and social media for Road2College and their partner brands.

Responsibilities

(70% of Role)

These responsibilities may shift from time to time to meet the changing goals of Road2College:

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for partner programs and brand (Road2College) content/marketing planning.
  • Take the lead on assigned marketing and social media campaigns.
    • Build a calendar of evergreen topics by quarter, organizing social media, emails, and website content within Road2College stages and topics.
    • Write marketing emails, landing page, and social post copy for brand and partner marketing campaigns and be able to do so in the brand voice to meet promotional objectives.
    • Copy edit and proofread your work and the work of other team members.
    • Revise existing articles.
    • Create content and images for several social media platforms.
    • Schedule social media (in advance).
    • Use analytics tools to gauge the success of posts and campaigns.
  • Create a weekly high school newsletter: responsible for copy, layout, scheduling, and analytics.
  • Serve on our SEO team, along with an outside agency to develop, execute, and monitor SEO strategy.

(30% of Role)

  • Edit, format, and publish human interest articles on our website from our Paying for College 101 community, spotlighting members and their stories. Optimize for SEO.
  • Fill out/send out assignment packets to be used by writers. SEO focused stories will include information provided by you and/or our SEO specialist. Ensure finished assignments follow packet guidelines.
    • Track in AirTable. Format and publish posts in WordPress on our website.
  • Create occasional special interest newsletters. Responsible for copy, layout, scheduling, and analytics.
  • Maintain the R2C content and marketing calendar and team workflow (enter events and resulting tasks into AirTable).
  • Stay on top of social media trends, hashtags, and strategies.

As one example of the specific kind of work our marketing team focuses on: August 1 is when the Common App is released which falls under the Apply to College stage of the process. We create articles, partner programs/zooms, tip sheets, classes, social posts, and dedicated emails that focus on the Common App. The goal is to make families aware of the Common App release, what it means, what they need to know about the application itself, how to prep for it, and that we can review their student’s Common App through our Common App Review service.

Qualities We’re Looking for

  • Ability to use imagery and words to help tell a story
  • Do-er: Someone who identifies a problem, comes up with a solution AND takes action on it
  • Willingness to learn new tools
  • Is comfortable with or willing to become comfortable with: WordPress, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Analytics, Slack, AirTable, Hubspot, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and SEO Tools (You don’t have to know each of these to apply.)
  • Someone who sees the big picture and thinks critically and strategically
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • A self-starter who is excited about working as a member of a small team for a woman-owned start-up

Position Requirements

  • Two years experience working in digital marketing
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field
  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest
  • Experience using social media for professional purposes
  • Experience with graphic design and photo editing
  • Time management skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Basic understanding of SEO
  • Willingness to pitch in and work wherever needed

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of higher ed policies, college admissions, and financial aid
