Sr. Editor / Content Manager for High-Growth Educational Publisher

We are looking for an experienced content manager in the education vertical (ideally higher-ed) to run the content team for our portfolio of content websites (and growing!). We have various leading websites like, and that are visited by millions of monthly visitors, and are looking for a talented senior editor / content manager.

We are seeking mid-career applicants with at least 3 to 5 years of editing/writing experience specifically for the web, digital media or similar platform with strong emphasis on SEO.
Duties include producing and publishing content, writing, editing and proofreading, formulating content strategies and hiring and managing a content team, among other tasks.

The ideal candidate will work with writers and designers to build content programs, manage content production and distribution for existing and emerging channels as well as plan/assign, write and edit content. The candidate should be comfortable finding creative ways of building an online presence, as well as using analytics in the formulation of a content strategy. Here, content is defined as multimedia articles, blog posts, images or videos that aid in fostering engagement online.

Strong priority will be given to candidates that are familiar with CMS and SEO tools and SEO best practices.

      Position Description

      • Lead efforts in driving, developing and refining SEO strategy and initiatives
      • Conduct keyword research and use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic
      • Evaluate and edit all existing and newly created content to optimize for SEO
      • Implement SEO best practices
      • Provide editorial direction to writers and designers with emphasis on SEO
      • Coordinate production of key editorial assets from conception through execution
      • Work with staff writers and freelance writers to develop story ideas, assign stories, edit and fact check all content, ensure SEO keywords are included, format and publish content
      • Track web analytics to ascertain content engagement levels.
      • Manage a content team consisting of writers, graphic designers, videographers, etc.
      • Manage content across all platforms, including email and social media.

      Qualifications and Special Skills Required

      • Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications or related field
      • 3-5 years agency experience or similar role such as digital content manager, web writer or content editor with a financial publishing company
      • Adept at keyword placement and SEO best practices.
      • Proficiency with popular content management systems.
      • Experience with social media management.
      • Excellent verbal/presentation skills, as well as writing, proofreading, and copywriting skills

      We are flexible on the position hours (full-time / part-time).

      Market based compensation: $65K - $85K depending on experience.
