Driven by students, Union Board plans a range of fun, entertaining, and educational events for students to come together, explore multiple world views, discuss current events, and learn from one another.Union Board Marketing provides students the opportunity to work in a fun and collaborative atmosphere where creative problem-solving leads to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from IU students and more. All Union Board Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives.Job SummaryMultimedia Photographers/Videographers are students with a creative eye and a flexible schedule, willing to work some evenings and weekends. They will cover everything from major university events, concerts and lectures, marketing campaign shoots, and many other Union Board ("UB") programs. After capturing IUB events, Multimedia Photographers/Videographer will be the ones to edit pictures, videos, and short form content (ex. TikToks, Instagram Reels etc.), finalizing them to the highest standards.Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesStoryboards, edits, and creatively enhances videos into professional formats - through collaboration with the Union Board Marketing team.Creates short form content (ex. TikTok or Instagram Reel) for social media with Cap Cut, Canva and Adobe Suite.Edits video footage with Adobe Suite products.Collaborates with Marketing Leads and Directors to brainstorm project solutions.Photographs and/or records events and programs for Immediate use on social platforms and archiving.Photographs and/or records people, places, and scenes to enhance our collection of media to use for marketing campaigns.Edits and shares photo collections with Directors and the team in a timely manner, sometimes same-day edits for posting on social media and other platforms.Maintains structure of photo libraries to optimize search capabilities.Participates in various meetings, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary.QualificationsEDUCATIONRequiredCurrently enrolled as a student at Indiana UniversitySKILLSRequiredA solid understanding of DSLR cameras, lighting, and gathering audioExperience editing videos with Adobe PremiereExperience creating interactive graphics with Adobe After EffectsExperience editing photos with Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Photo MechanicExperience creating and editing short form content such as TikToks and Instagram ReelsAbility to work a flexible schedule to cover some evening and weekend events as well as maintaining some office hoursFine attention to detailProfessionalism, dependability, and respect for othersExceptional decision-making skills and autonomyExceptional written and communication skillsPerforms well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphereStrong sense of curiosity and creativityMotivated individual: strives for ongoing improvement and is passionate about learningAbility to receive constructive criticism in order to improve skillsetPreferredDesire to improve constantly and learn more about photography and videographyLengthy experience photographing events in all shooting environmentsExperience with video, video editing, and digital image editingBeing comfortable directing others, including full-time staff and managementUnderstanding of effective marketing tacticsWorking Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
