This is accomplished by generating and managing content for social media posts and campaigns, creating digital newsletters, designing and producing print materials, updating digital marketing displays and other media platforms. Other duties include graphic design, photography, and short-form video, as well as meeting with other City of Allen departments on cross-promotion efforts, supporting special events, and responding to resident and visitor communication. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

Assists with development and execution of marketing strategy by researching, benchmarking, messaging and planning content for multiple audiences (including recreation center members, golf course visitors and residents) across several print and digital platforms.Handles digital marketing by preparing and disseminating electronic information, updating social media platforms, creating info graphics, deploying marketing visuals on digital screens and developing newsletters.Uses design software programs and coordinates print production to design and provide materials such as brochures, posters, flyers and other print materials.Supports events and activities which may include attendance at meetings, assistance with special projects and other duties as assigned.Coordinates with stakeholders, partners, vendors and other City staff to guide creation of visual marketing materials and to promote programs, events and activities.Attends events to develop live and cataloged footage for use in future campaigns.Understands all aspects of the brand and how to effectively and consistently represent the brand. Maintains the City graphic identity guidelines by following and enforcing proper uses of logos, fonts, colors and other materials.Job Requirements
Education & ExperienceWork requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of relevant work experienceOther combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of:City rules, regulations, policies and procedures.Marketing, graphic arts, and public relations concepts, techniques, and tools.Variety of social media platforms.Photography and videography techniques and tools.Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.Skill in:
Establishing and maintaining working relationships with professional and support staff, vendors, the public, the media, and City employees.Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.Providing outstanding customer service and conflict resolution.Operating a computer utilizing a variety of business software.Using DSLR cameras and video equipment.Working effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities.Effectively communicating in both oral and written format, with an adherence to AP style.Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license.Physical Demands / Work Environment:

Supervision Exercised:
General Direction: Work may be reviewed upon completion to ensure compliance with general organizational goals, strategic plans, and policies; autonomy is granted at the departmental level; work is subject to the organizational strategic plan, Council-level policies, and accepted professional standards. Major work activities are covered by broad guidelines and executive directives permitting flexibility in selecting methods, procedures, work priorities, and the planning and coordination of programs or projects.
Health & Dental InsuranceThe City of Allen offers a choice of two PPO Medical Plan options for full-time employees. Vision insurance is included through enrollment in either of these plans. Employees also have the option of participating in an indemnity Dental Plan. Coverage is available to all full-time employees and their dependents under these plans at group rates. Employee insurance coverage goes into effect the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.
Insurance CoverageBasic Group Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of one time the annual salary up to a maximum of $250,000 for each benefit.
Long-Term Disability Insurance is provided at no cost to full-time employees.
The City of Allen also offers optional programs that include Short-Term Disability, Voluntary Supplemental Life, Dependent Life and Voluntary AD&D insurance group rates.
Flexible Spending AccountsParticipation in Flexible Spending Accounts through payroll deduction for Health Care and Dependent Care expenses is also available for full time employees.
Wellness ProgramThe City of Allen administers a wellness program for full-time employees which provides premium reimbursement for participation in various wellness programs throughout the year.
Workers CompensationAll employees are covered by workers compensation for injuries sustained in the line of duty.
HolidaysEmployees receive nine paid holidays per year, including one personal day.
VacationEmployees with less than ten years of service are eligible to earn 120 hours per year. Employees with ten or more years of service are eligible for 160 hours per year.
Sick LeaveFull-time employees on a 40-hour workweek shall accrue 4.62 hours towards sick leave per pay period. There is no limit to the amount of sick leave hours accrued.
RetirementThe City of Allen participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS): All full-time employees must participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. TMRS is a qualified tax deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven (7%) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the City provides 2-to-1 matching contributions. The City of Allen also participates in Social Security.
Deferred CompensationThe City of Allen offers an optional deferred compensation 457 plan in which employees can contribute a portion of their salary, before taxes, to a retirement account.
LongevityEmployees who have been with the City of Allen at least a year receive $4 per month for every month worked.
