We are seeking a Manager of Internal Communications who will be responsible for the delivery of internal communications and awareness campaigns to support all communications functions including executive communications, intranet, benefit communications, etc. He/she will provide communications assets that reinforce company culture and initiatives, and work towards instilling the AJC's mission and values across the workforce. He/she will manage and participate in key management initiatives such as press releases, staff announcements, and town halls that inform our workforce of key organizational updates.
We seek a motivated, strategic, and disciplined leader to lead these communications efforts. A successful candidate will demonstrate an eagerness to collaborate with management through hands on execution and effective teamwork, collaboration and thought leadership.

Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $88,300.00 - $147,100.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

In this position you will:
- Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with Director of Communications and other senior leaders
- Plan, edit, and write content for a variety of communication mediums, such as a press releases, staff intranet and regular email bulletins
- Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to all stakeholder groups
- Work closely with HR leaders to ensure all HR-related news (health/wellness, benefits, compensation, performance management, ethics, compliance and more) is communicated to employees in a clear and helpful manner, and in the most effective format
- Organize and execute our town halls, coordinating with leadership our goals for each event and the best ways to effectively communicate to reach said goals
- Engage with charity partners to provide in-kind donations and sponsorships.
- Activate on select charity sponsorship opportunities including but not limited to the AJC Peachtree Road Race, Atlanta Pride and others.
- Draft messages or scripts for senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form. Work with leaders to identify communication objectives
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messaging
- Be a champion for the AJC brand, both internally and externally
- Cultivate relationships and partnerships with senior leaders to help guide their communication strategy
- Take inbound requests from business leaders to collaborate on press releases, speech writing, internal memos, etc.
- Work with Director of Communications to establish internal communications guidelines and best practices for the AJC
- Oversee a team of freelance writers in the short term, while working with Director of Communications to recruit, build, manage and motivate a high-functioning Internal Communications team.
- Assist with events as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing preferred.
- With a BA/BS, need to have 6+ years of relevant experience with at least 1 year experience in a management or lead "type" role (may have a Master's with 4+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 1+ year of experience or 10 years of total relevant experience)
- Experience in Internal Communications required, preferably within the media or journalism industry
- Excellent communication skills; ability to interact and provide recommendations to senior stakeholders, with strong presentation skills that outline a clear message and rationale
- Goal-driven with a proven track record of exceptional writing
- Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
- Must possess sound judgement and take initiative to accomplish job duties
- A friendly and positive personality who thrives in a dynamic environment
- Creative, strategic approach to planning events with a background in managing town halls and/or offsites
- A multi-tasker who can roll up their sleeves and get in the trenches, extremely creative and resourceful in their approach
- Ability to clearly articulate strategic priorities for the business from a leader's perspective
- Passion and belief in local, regional and statewide journalism and its role as a societal change agent
- Demonstrable understanding of journalism standards and media ethics
- External communications background a plus
