As a Principal UX Researcher on the Compass team, you will be a key part of a growing team that enables the growth and operation of Compass, including our AIX00 panel where a selection of our key customers work closely with us to define the future of Copilot and generative AI.

You will partner with a set of global customers and facilitate deep engagement between IT, leadership, and end users (both knowledge workers and first line workers) so that we understand their business needs. You will also craft a regular cadence of engagement to ensure lasting, effective relationships with our customers and the enablement of Microsoft’s impactful R&D value.

Responsibilities
Identifying and onboarding new customers
Pitching the program (internally and externally)
Helping us support our broader org at scale through efficient processes
Managing relationships and engagements with internal product group stakeholders to ensure their research needs are met
Managing relationships and engagements with a set of external customers
Planning and executing our events that feature roadmap discussions, customer roundtables and extensive customer co-design sprints
Coordinating engagement projects and research for our team and partners, including helping to operate our AIX00 panel
Managing our internal and external communications to create awareness and use of our program
Contributing key, horizontal research projects yourself
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 6+ years User Experience Research experience
OR Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 4+ years User Experience Research experience
OR Doctorate in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 3+ years User Experience Research experience
OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
5-7 years of program or product management experience
5-7 years of experience working directly with customers; managing customer relationships
5+ years of hands-on product or market research and/or product planning experience, with demonstrated skill in collecting and analyzing qualitative data to improve plans and UX in a technology industry setting.
Confident, capable and persuasive presentation of ideas and executive presence (envision yourself presenting to execs at the customer and at Microsoft)
Excitement and capability to coach and teach others about effective research through engaging storytelling and captivating presentions
Ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into salient and compelling go dos for our product teams and executives
Research experience and aptitude with an ability to develop new skills and work with new methods as needed
Experience effectively managing customer panels or research programs
Attention to details and deadlines
Experience managing vendors and budgets
Dedication to refining and building upon your existing research skills as well as learning new research methods

UX Research IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
