Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Research Communications serves the University by conveying the value of research conducted at Carolina to the people of North Carolina and the world. The office produces the UNC Research website and Endeavors, the University's digital research magazine. ORC supports the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR)'s administrative offices and centers and institutes with communication and marketing services including strategic planning and guidance, content creation, graphic design, event planning, website administration, executive communications, and amplification of research news and events.
Position Summary
The web producer will develop and maintain websites for the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and One UNC Clinical Research. They will manage client support by liaising with appropriate campus units to establish and host foundational website presence for One UNC Clinical Research, and work with the OVCR web administrator to ensure seamless integration with research.unc.edu. Additionally, they will assist in the maintenance of research.unc.edu and its thousands of webpages, including providing instrumental support during the website revisions. They will perform data analytics as necessary to ensure optimal user experience and implement IT security measures where necessary to protect sensitive and proprietary information.
The employee will report to the OVCR Director of Communications and be an embedded team member of both the Office of Research Communications and One UNC Clinical Research.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's or Bachelors and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* HTML/CSS/Javascript experience, including production frameworks such as Bootstrap* Familiar with Wordpress administration* Ability to analyze and utilize website performance metrics to consistently improve website performance.* Sensitivity to practical (e.g., accessibility) and aesthetic design consideration* Organized and detail-oriented* Experienced working in a team environment and able to respond and work well with colleagues from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* PHP, SQL experience* Backend server knowledge: Apache, Linux CLI, Kubernetes, GIT* Experienced with image editing software, preferably familiar with Adobe Creative Cloud suite
