The Role
Relying on strong communication and organizational skills, the Director of Strategic Relationship Project Manager will lead a team of Vendor Managers for a portfolio of critical market data third-party providers used throughout Fidelity Investments. This is not a technology related project manager role, but instead a job for a chief of staff to help prepare executive level presentations and project manage large contract renewals for Fidelity's strategic vendors. Collaborating with business partners and Vendor Managers, you will project manage large and complex vendor relationships, including strategic multi-year contract negotiations. You will work closely with Business Unit Subject Matter Experts, key stakeholders, and Vendor Managers. Specific job-related tasks you will be responsible for:
- Draft executive level PowerPoint presentations that convey complex multi-year vendor relationships, contract negotiations, budgets and vendor strategies
- Capture and represent team metrics and key performance indicators
- Maintain and update monthly team scorecards and business line reviews
- People manage a team of 4-6 Vendor Relations Managers, including helping them prioritize their work, guiding them on how to represent their multi-year contracts to senior leadership, and coaching and mentoring them in their career path
- Liaison with the Vendor Administration Team, and the Research and Market Data Teams to facilitate the annual market data budget and multi-year forecasting
- Create and maintain databases that track the team s contract renewal pipeline and executed contracts
- Prepare and update executive summaries on our top-20 Market Data Vendors that are utilized to brief senior executives on the scope and depth of our relationships with our strategic vendors
- Partner with our technology teams to improve our team tools and prepare for digitizing and meta-tagging contracts
- Drive team projects and initiatives that cross multiple Fidelity business organizations
- Drive team compliance on meta-tagging and documenting executed contracts.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelors degree required
- At least 5 years experience drafting executive level presentations in PowerPoint
- At least 5 years experience leading a team and managing employees, including coaching and mentoring junior staff
- Advanced visual graphics, charting and graphing skills
- Advanced Excel skill, with Tableau and PowerBI skills a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, set timelines and meet tight deadlines on occasion
- Experience facilitating meetings and leading complex discussions with business partners and senior leadership
- Proven ability to build strong relationships
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to tailor messages to various audiences
- Firm understanding of Vendor Management and category management in the Market Data space.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to exercise good judgement in all facets of work
- High level of curiosity enabling the desire to research and understand new topics
The Team
Vendor Relations is a team of Vendor Managers, Contract Specialists and Lawyers that provide outstanding service, specializing in market data and research service relationships and negotiation strategies for the Firm. We are part of the larger Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations business unit supporting the acquisition, management, dissemination, and use of data across the Firm. In Vendor Relations, we collaborate with groups across Fidelity including finance, risk, legal and compliance along with numerous investment teams providing opportunities to expand your network and gain a better understanding of the business.
