Dagen Personnel is recruiting a contract GIS Technician for an oil & gas company.
This is a temp-to-perm position that offers a hybrid schedule and can be located in Central Houston or The Woodlands.
The GIS technician will be responsible for accurately mapping polygons, boundaries, and other spatial features from legal descriptions such as quarter calls and metes and bounds using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. The ideal candidate will possess strong spatial analysis skills, proficiency in ArcGIS Pro software, experience with Quorum GIS tools and a keen eye for precision in polygon creation and editing.
Responsibilities:Utilize GIS software to create accurate polygons representing the company’s agreement types such as leases and contracts, and other spatial entities using Quorum GIS tools and ArcGIS Pro.Conduct quality checks on polygon data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established standards and specifications.Confidently use Quorum GIS search tools to find agreements that need to be reviewed by the mapping team for spatial updates and correct as necessary.Edit and refine polygon boundaries and attributes as needed based on project requirements, feedback from stakeholders, and changes in the underlying data in Quorum Land System.
Requirements:Must have demonstrated experience creating spatial data utilizing legal descriptions i.e. quarter calls, metes and bounds, for Jeffersonian and non-Jeffersonian areas.Strong understanding of spatial data concepts, including coordinate systems and projections.Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and precision in polygon mapping and editing tasks.Prefer 1 to 3 years experience in a spatial data mapping role.
