Overview
We are seeking an analytical and systems orientated Logistics Manager to lead U.S. warehouse operations, transportation, and Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) implementation. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to plan and integrate a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and transportation management system (TMS) into our ERP and the ability to achieve defined performance goals.Additionally, this role will optimize the U.S. transportation operation and distribution strategy focused on cost control/optimization, superior customer service and execution excellence. This role also partners with Canadian and Latin American supply chain teams, as needed.
This position is based at our global Headquarters in San Diego and offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule.
What You’ll Be Doing
Responsible for the development and execution of the transportation and distribution strategy for the Americas driving continual improvement to operational performance. Provides recommendations to achieve superior customer service, cost control and containment, and execution excellence.
Transportation and Fulfilment
- Responsible for the management of third-party logistics (3PL) provider (s) to include ERP system integration and TMS optimization to achieve defined metrics . Respo nsible for the development and implementation of economical and efficient distribution and transportation services for internal and external supply chain customers which will result in our lowest operating costs and highest customer service leading to increased sales.
- Identif ies opportunities to reduce transportation and warehousing costs, working with materials planning, manufacturing, customer relations, sales, and marketing which will result in control of our costs and increased EBITDA contributions .
- Develop s strategies , systems and plans to coordinate with the sales and customer relations team to meet increasingly complex customer delivery needs to achieve improved customer service levels resulting in increased sales .
- Owns Sarbanes-Oxley processes in Operations, embracing their continued integration into our business by (1) updating process narratives and flowcharts 1 month before quarter-end; (2) notifying the Director of Internal Control of: (a) process and/or control changes, and (b) control failures and inconsistencies; (3) continues process improvement to move towards a balance between the needs of Sarbanes-Oxley and business efficiency. This will result in consistent reliable operational and financial results which will contribute to increased EBITDA.
- Responsible for the international trade compliance program to include research, development, documentation, implementation , audit and continual improvement.
- Provides new vendor recommendations with supporting justification.
Warehouse
- Manage s relationships with third-party logistics providers and make decisions for the distribution network to improve service, cost, and operational excellence
- Manages warehouse operations including regular physical presence to oversee and collaborate on stock management related to shipping, cycle counts, efficiency, accuracy, stock return, etc.
- Lead s the operational design, documentation, testing, training, and monitoring of the warehousing management system within the ERP system
- Oversees and c onduct on-site warehouse performance review and audits .
Systems and Reporting
- Identif ies tools, technology and processes increase efficiency and data integrity . Develop s and provide s recommendations to optimize ERP implementation to achieve superior execution, lower operating costs, increased customer satisfaction and sales.
- Lead s data analysis related to performance of customer orders, transportation, manufacturing, and warehousing sites throughout the network related to productivity, capacity , schedule attainment, costs, deductions, compliance to QC standards . Make recommendations for action as needed which will result in our lowest operating costs and highest customer service leading to increased sales.
- Oversees month-end financial analysis and control working closely with Logistics Analyst, Finance and all Operations staff . Oversee financial tasks throughout the month to facilitate month end close ( i.e. code invoices, establish and maintain auto voucher processes) which will result in control of our costs and increasing contributions to EBITDA.
- Oversee s accuracy of the ERP tables that drive operations functions including: Item Master, Location Master, Plant Calendar, Warehouse Accessorial Charges, Carrier Master, EDI 210 transportation invoices and other tables as identified resulting in superior execution and lower operating costs as well as increased customer satisfaction and sales.
- Complies with all legal and policy requirements related to employment practices; supports and executes the global legal and intellectual property compliance policy and process to ensure the protection and growth of the assets of the company. Owns Sarbanes-Oxley processes in area of responsibility.
- Teach es new and innovative ways of accomplishing goals calling upon one’s experience and cutting-edge industry thinking and practice. Lead s continuous improvement .
- Report s on standard metrics to monitor performance of the distribution and transportation network .
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain , Business Admin or equivalent experience.
- Master’s Degree in Supply Chain , Business or Engineering preferred
- Certified by professional associations and ongoing education in Supply Chain management research and education preferred
- 7 + years of leadership experience with strong problem solving, change management, project management, analysis and process orientation .
- Demonstrated expertise in leading consumer packaged goods customers ( e.g. retail, grocery, hardware, automotive, etc.) warehousing & transportation function to successful metrics.
- Must have an extensive understanding and experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) within a digital warehousing environment ( e.g. scanning and/or voice pick technology)
- Ability to travel 10-25%
Total Rewards
$96,700 – $120,000 / year includes base salary plus 10% - 15% profit-sharing contribution to your retirement account. Salary is determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data
