Role :
The UX Designer & Program Manager is an accomplished user experience (UX) researcher, designer, and leader. The role is to understand member needs and goals and develop strategies that support ongoing improvements within our digital ecosystem. This role will apply user research and design skills in creating sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes, as well as develop design specifications to improve user satisfaction and better the appropriate online behavioral metrics.
The UX Designer & Program Manager is expected to lead the digital design practice at Rogue, which is focused on products in our member and employee-facing digital channels. Focusing on critical measures to inform the work and determining success metrics are inherent to the role. The work will require a practice of iterative improvements through user testing and other user-centered research methodologies. Efforts for this role will cross business functions, including member-facing sites, online banking, mobile banking app, and other digital channels. The role's influence and work will include employee-facing UI where ease and effectiveness are critical. The UX Designer & Program Manager will work across the credit union on multiple projects to influence leaders and functional managers by establishing a digital-first mindset within the organization. They will be the project lead across initiatives and must apply project management techniques.
Supports and promotes a passion for the credit union's mission, vision, and values and applies the Rogue Credit Union member loyalty principles within their work.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
25% Research, Analytics and Testing - Utilizes member feedback, self-directed user research and cross functional advocates to identify and propose experience improvements to achieve exceptional experiences across the credit union. Consistently leverages data and analytics to have a strong data informed understanding for making decisions and strategic recommendations. Rigorously pursues and achieves individual and department KPIs and other Rogue scorecard metrics as outlined or assigned.
25% User Centered Design

Employs various user-centered design methods and software to positively impact both member and employee user experiences. The goal is to improve workflows with the intent of making them seamless and frictionless. This role is to design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces. Stays current on applicable credit union and banking best practices for UX/UI standards across the financial institution and fintech industry. Rapidly test and iterate designs. Writes and presents proposals for change and improvement.
20% Business Unit Project Lead - Functions as a BU project lead managing all associated UX/UI design work and collaborating with cross functional teams for rolling out optimized experiences. Utilizes proven change management techniques to ensure stakeholder buy in and adoption for smooth and effective transitions.
15% Strategyand Digital Influence - Works with the credit union’s leadership to develop and execute a UX strategy that is in alignment with achieving organizational goals and objectives. Work with the credit union’s Focus Team to build and execute a DX/UX plan and roadmap that creates improved satisfaction across channels for members and employees.
10% Standardsand Guidelines Oversight - Establishes and maintains defined UX/UI standards, procedures, and best practices in alignment with the brand promise and loyalty principles. Demonstrates continual learning in pursuit of professional development requirements of the position and credit union as they evolve. Has an active understanding of regulatory, credit union, operational, and security standards.
5% Proactively performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Knowledge & Skills :
Experience : Five or more years of UX design leadership experience. Preference given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complex multi-channel digital environments, especially within the banking industry.
Education : Bachelor's Degree and/or other certifications in User Experience Design preferred. Other relevant certifications (for example with UX frameworks, tools, and creative tools) are a plus. Or a degree in human-computer interaction, human-centric design, statistics, web design, marketing research a plus.
Interpersonal Skills : A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive interpersonal contact and influencing others across the organization and at varying levels. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas to others.
Other Skills : Expertise in standard UX software such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus. Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of digital-first, mobile-first and responsive design. A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
Self-motivated and able to prioritize work and reconcile competing schedules. Overall leadership and project/personnel management skills, prioritization, and organization skills, especially the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. The ability to problem-solve and negotiate is essential. Must be a team player with the ability to flex with changing business requirements.
Strong research expertise using member feedback techniques, including a variety of methods (e.g., interviews, user testing, surveys, and A/B testing). Curious about customers and their needs and adept at guiding cross-functional teams using those insights to shape the company’s experiences. Embeds research into the product development process and helps define the product user experience.
Physical Requirements : Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers while using computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discernments in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
Work Environment : This job is an exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling tasks and projects. The employee must independently monitor hours and judge the time needed to be spent on applicable duties. Employee must be capable of adjusting to unpredictable schedules proactively. As a direct representative of the credit union, the employee must conduct and present themselves courteously and professionally. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery. Travel to all credit union regions may be required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
