Nature Methods seeks a Locum Associate or Senior Editor to join the editorial team for 6 months. We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in genetics, genomics, sequencing technology, and/or genome engineering technology.
Nature Methods is a leading journal publishing impactful and high-quality methods and tools for basic biological research. The 6-month appointment will provide the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to explore an editorial career.
In this role, the successful candidate will evaluate and make decisions on manuscripts, oversee the peer review process, and write short news pieces for the journal. They may also interact with the scientific community through conferences and laboratory visits.
The ideal candidate will have experience using a range of biological laboratory techniques and demonstrate an interest in methodology development. A broader interest in and understanding of biology is also important. Excellent communication skills and a willingness and ability to learn new fields are a must. Applicants must have completed a PhD in the biological sciences or in a closely related area. Post-doctoral experience is desirable. Editorial experience is beneficial but not required.
This position is available in New York, Shanghai, or London.
