COMPANY: Our client is a Fortune 500 multi-national technology company headquartered in Menlo Park, CA.
Role Mandate: The team is seeking a Motion Designer with VFX background to create animated graphics and visual effects for Edits tool.
Candidate Value Proposition: Edits is a new stand-alone video editing app by Instagram that features new creative tools with more options, features and controls. Instagram Design Studio is driving design and production for Edits’ creative tools libraries, including filters, fonts, text effects, text animations, transitions, and video effects. The ideal candidate will be designing and working with a team of dedicated motion designers, engineers, and creative coder, collaborating to refine those designs as they are translated into code. The individual will be joining a unique and talented team of creative coders and designers, having the opportunity to work on Edits.
Role Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): • Designing and producing text effects, video transitions, and video effects under direction of Creative Director or Art Director • Collaborating with Creative Coder to refine designs in internal prototyping tools, and QA product integration • Prepare documentation and handoff materials for Engineers
Performance Measurement: Performance is measured based on deliverables: video renders, AE files, Figma decks
Must-Have Skills: • 3–5 years designing and producing animated graphics and visual effects for real-time products and experiences • Experience working with technical artists or creative coders to translate designs into shaders and post-processing effects • Portfolio that demonstrates motion graphics and visual effect design • Proficiency with After Effects and Figma required
Nice-to-Have Skills: • Origami prototyping and 3D VFX software • Familiarity with more advance VFX software • Experience with filmmaking/editing and short-form video production is preferred • Experience with Origami and 3D VFX software, and familiarity with video LUTs is a plus but not required
Soft Skills: • Collaboration skills • Team player – designing with other creative coder and designers • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Educational Requirements: • Portfolio and experience preferred over degree in some type of visual art or design field • 3-5+ years of experience in this field and working with technical artists
