Daikin Applied is seeking a Designer to join our growing team. The person in this role will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs for small, medium, or large projects. The Designer will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered.

Location: Staunton, VA - Hybrid
What You Will Do
- Create engineering documentation including Solidworks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards.
- Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation.
- Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules.
- Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
- Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
- Complete work assignments within determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals.
- Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products.
- Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic.
- Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams.
- Participate in or lead special team projects.
- Give work direction to Designers and train other Designers to perform work.

- Vocational or Technical Degree or AAS degree in Engineering, Design or related
- 2+ years of related design experience
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, Creo or Catia or other related program(s)
- Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Experience with sheet metal design and/or HVAC products
- 5+ years of related design experience
