ROLE:
FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly is seeking a Weekday Reporter/Weekend Weather Anchor to support our top-rated newscasts committed to serving the San Diego community. The successful candidate excels in ad-libbing, storytelling on all platforms, connecting with viewers, can receive feedback, and models professionalism on and off the air.
To be considered for an interview, please make sure your application is full in line with the job specs as found below.RESPONSIBILITIES:Accurate reporting of news storiesAttend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideasDevelop community contacts and a network of news sourcesAd-lib live breaking news by telling a compelling story with a strong ability to interact with anchors in the studioWork with the photographer in the development of a storyRegularly update the newsroom on story elements and progressUse social media to update news and weather stories to the publicAttend station partnerships in the communityProduce and anchor weather and traffic segments for weekend newscasts and fill-in during the week as neededEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent related experiencePrefer 3-5 years of TV news reporting and weather anchor experience in a medium to large marketREQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Interact positively and productively with other employees and in the fieldStrong on-air presentation – must be credible, personable, and passionateExcellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong attention to detailAbility to accept constructive direction and feedbackFlexible with schedule and willing to work additional hours or different shifts as required by news contentKnowledge of WSI, Baron, or similar weather forecasting systemsCompensation starting at $33/hr, commensurate with experience and skill level
