CobbFendley is seeking a Senior Civil Designer in our Forth Worth, Texas office.
The successful candidates most important qualifications include the following.
25+ years of experience in developing plan sets and preparing drawings for various clients (e.g., TxDOT, municipalities and counties).A proficient understanding of design in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Geopak, ProjectWise, and Axiom software programs.A proficient understanding in the use of design manuals and standards (e.g. TxDOT Design Manuals/Standards, AASHTO Greenbook, NCTCOG specifications and standards, APWA Standards) to perform engineering design for various projects.Ability to mentor and guide younger staff in engineering design.Thorough understanding of civil engineering symbols and terminology with respect to engineering design and plan set preparation.Construction and maintenance field inspection experience with water and wastewater lines.
Work with Transportation Discipline Lead to establish CAD group goals and expectations.Mentor and provide training to subordinate staffers in group.Perform QA/QC on all drawings and plans within the group prior to milestone submittals.Meet project completion dates and budgets set by Department Manager and Client.Work willingly with clients, other staff, supervisors, and principals.Perform independent research and delegate changing priorities.Prioritize and effectively plan work, file records and key documents for easy access by others.Develop, modify, and review models, plans, details, and drawings of engineering systems and components according to established standards.Work with rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from client or Department Manager for use in the development of final construction drawings.Work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate work product that is error free.Adhere to CobbFendleys safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.Primary responsibilities will be to the NTX Transportation group, however, may assist from time to time the municipal, SUE and other groups as necessary.Travel to CobbFendley offices, client office, and project locations will be required as needed.Perform independent research and delegate changing priorities.Work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate work product that is error free.Adhere to CobbFendleys safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations will be required.Job site observations factors could include: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST.
