DescriptionCorteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical & Technical Literature Searcher.We are looking for a Technical Searcher to run chemical, biological, and other scientific searches for clients in R&D and the Legal Intellectual Property team. This searcher will also manage access, support, and training on all chemistry-related search tools licensed by the library. The role also involves collaborating with R&D and Legal to evaluate and maintain an effective mix of search tools for a wide range of needs. This employee will organize new employee Learning, Development, and Library Resources (LD&LR) orientations and support certain learning & development programs for R&D.This role can accommodate a flexible work arrangement where you may work multiple days a week from home, preferably residing in Indianapolis, IN or Johnston, IA.Responsibilities - What You Will Do:+ Develop in-depth technical searches to support R&D, intellectual property decisions, regulatory submissions, and competitive and technical landscaping. This requires conducting thorough reference interviews to identify information needs and determine appropriate search parameters and desired output. The searcher will devise and run appropriate search strategies, assess relevance of results, and modify and filter searches as needed to optimize results for the end user.+ Generate user friendly search reports in a variety of formats that may include bibliographic and patent records along with charts and visualizations for analyzing large result sets, identifying technology trends, and benchmarking competitor activity.+ Log search requests and reports into a SharePoint database and file share repository so they can be leveraged by others for future requests and search updates.+ Create, maintain, and update alerts as requested to monitor competitors, technologies, and inventions of interest.+ Facilitate access, support, & end user training on search and citation management tools, including all chemistry-related resources. This will include consulting with R&D on the most appropriate in-house tool(s) for a given need and on vendor customized projects.+ Develop and maintain awareness of and proficiency using information industry products and search tools through vendor meetings and training events, professional reading, and internal and external webinars. Evaluate new tools for potential adoption and, when appropriate, solicit stakeholder (R&D, Legal, Regulatory) feedback on them.+ Develop and maintain knowledge of other (non-library) information resources licensed or maintained by other Corteva teams. Facilitate cross-functional awareness and leveraging of these tools when consulting on information needs.+ Provide first line support in resolving technical issues accessing search tools or other library resources.+ Provide new and existing Corteva R&D employees with a good understanding of library resources by organizing and participating in the delivery of bimonthly Learning, Development, and Library Resources orientation sessions.+ Leverage a quarterly newsletter and other communication channels to update employees on new search tool resources, functionality, and training opportunities.+ Serve and / or lead as a program manager for specific technical enhancement programs to advance R&D personnel skills and technical knowledge.QualificationsEducation:+ BS degree in Chemistry. Master's degree or higher preferred.What Skills You Need:+ 1 or more years of scientific search experience. Preferably, this should include running searches on behalf of others and conducting reference interviews to understand requesters' information needs and desired deliverables.+ Experience developing complex search queries for both patent and non-patent literature searches.+ Familiarity with search, analysis, and visualization capabilities of multiple end user search tools (such as SciFinder, Reaxys, Web of Science, Scopus, Derwent Innovation, PatSnap, Questel Orbit, PatBase, etc.) Experience searching STNext preferred but not required.+ Experience running chemical structure searches preferred. Biological search experience would also be useful.+ Experience working with R&D, patent, and/or regulatory professionals.
