The Product Designer performs, oversees, and directs the product design, detailing and specifications along with the product prototyping and testing of metal and fiberglass enclosuresWork with the Process Engineer at the manufacturing facility on product design, forming design, and plant capacity for any new or modified productAssist the Product Management team for the product development stages and assist the Process Engineer for the product manufacturing process integrationSupport the sales and customer service team in the pre-sale and post-sale processesEssential Duties
New product development, including project management and design coordination with product management teamCapitalization of tooling for new productsEstablishing material standards and specificationsProduct design calculations using finite element analysisDeveloping customer details and specificationsReviewing accuracy of product designs and drawings performed by drafting teamProviding technical support and expertise for quality standards and certificationsSetting goals and objectives for internal and external customer projects3rd party testing coordination and prototypingCreating SmartSKU standards and naming conventionsCoordinating manufacturing processes with plant Process EngineerAttending job sites and customer meetings as needed to provide technical support to salesGenerating goals and expectations to communicate weekly with key customers related to project status and backlogRequired Training or Certifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil or Structural EngineeringEIT or PE certificationExperience with metal or fiberglassExperience in finite element analysis software toolsExperience in manufacturing processes and project managementExperience with 3D software (Autodesk Inventor knowledge is an asset)Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, strength to lift and carry files and products weighing up to 40 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephoneMust be able to work in plant production environment as needed to validate designs, review progress on special projects, perform job safety analysis, and other tasks which will result in some exposure to noise, dust, cold, etc.Must be able to wear PPE when applicable and follow all safety measuresOvernight/Business Travel approximately 20% within the US, Canada, and MexicoWhat CRH Offers You
