ResponsibilitiesSupport analysis and optimization of start-up and equilibrium phases of the Xe-100 reactor core.Support coupled multi-physics analysis of the Xe-100 core including neutronics, fuel cycle and coarse-mesh thermal fluid analysis.Support analysis for generating safety related parameters and other data required for transient analysis of the Xe-100 core.Support multi-physics simulations for the transient response of the Xe-100 reactor core design.Perform uncertainty quantification for the Xe-100 core due to uncertainties in neutron cross-sections, fission yield and decay data, and any user input parameters, such as geometry, material density, isotopic composition, etc.Support source term and criticality safety analysis.Provide inputs to Mechanistic Source Term (MST), Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA), and System Engineering personnel on nucleonic aspects, including nuclear materials properties, requirements, nuclear boundary conditions, and processes.Support development and implementation of Verification, Validation and Uncertainty Quantification (VVUQ) plans for codes and models for nuclear reactor design and analysis.Contribute to X-energy codes and methods development and high-performance computing for reactor physics.Perform other duties as assigned by manager.Minimum QualificationsDegree in Nuclear Engineering from a US accredited university (Masters or PhD preferred).3-4 years of relevant experience in reactor physics, design, and analysis.Experience in source term and criticality safety analysis is preferred.Experience with and understanding of numerical methods used in the development of multi-physics tools is preferred.Experience with high temperature gas cooled reactors is preferred.Experience with multi-physics simulation (steady-state and/or transient) for fuel depletion and performance, and optimization of reactor design is required.Experience with analysis, modelling and simulation methods for reactor physics, core design and radiation transport is required.Experience with uncertainty quantification and data analysis in nuclear reactors is desired.Skills should include understanding reactor start-up, control, shielding, activation, safety, and system engineering fundamentals.Understanding of the fundamentals of source term and criticality safety analysis is desired.Understanding of numerical methods used in the development of multi-physics tools is desired.Experience with high temperature gas cooled reactor systems is desired.Proven team player with excellent verbal, written communication/presentation, and interpersonal skills.Knowledgeable on reactor physics, coupled thermal dynamics and neutronics analysis, fuel cycle analysis and core design optimization.Proficient in communicating technical matters, both written and spoken.Experience with GitLab, FORTRAN, C++, PYTHON, and LINUX operating systems.Strong mathematical and analytic skills.Able to think critically and reflectively.Willing and able to learn.Able to create and synthesize knowledge.Strong Initiative/Self Starter.Team Player & able to work with diverse groups.Highly motivated.BenefitsX Energy, LLC offers a robust benefits package that includes a 401K plan with an employer match, Medical/Dental /Vision Insurance, Life and Disability Insurance, Paid Time Off, and a Tuition Reimbursement/Professional Development policy that supports the continuing education of our employees.Work location:
