Responsibilities:
- Follow Production Designer’s direction to produce complex digimatte elements at a high standard, with a thorough understanding of perspective, lighting, and color.
- Work with rendered CG elements, still photography, and digital paint to build believable environments that are seamlessly integrated into the film.
- Create 3D assets from scratch as necessary and seamlessly meld them with photography and painting into a cohesive whole.
- Collaborate with Lighting, Modeling, FX, and Look Dev teams to find the most efficient techniques to finalize shots.
- Work as part of a team, taking direction from the Digimatte Supervisor, VFX Supervisor, and feedback from the Production Designer as needed.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Proficiency and strong understanding of the latest versions of software such as Nuke, Photoshop, and other industry-standard 3D packages.
- Strong conceptual understanding of compositing and general knowledge of compositing software (such as Nuke's) 3D environment and tools.
- Familiarity with working with AOVs and different passes within an EXR file.
- Ability to adhere to timelines; experience in prioritizing and managing time efficiently for quick turnarounds.
- Willingness to provide a reel or portfolio of work examples, including a web address when submitting a resume.
Desired Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in the VFX/Animation industry.
- Experience working in a Linux-based operating system.
- Knowledge of a 3D animation pipeline.
- Traditional art skills demonstrating an eye for light, shadow, composition, and color.
- Comfortable working with various implementations, including 2D backdrops, 3D assets, and complex 2.5D/3D projections.
- Bachelor's degree in Art, Film, Visual Effects, Animation, Computer Graphics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Note: This position is hybrid, generally requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Salary Range: $78,312 - $120,000
