Responsibilities

1. Develop, write, and maintain project specifications for architectural drawings and design documents, including Division 00, 01, and architectural specifications.
2. Coordinate project specifications with other disciplines to ensure alignment with design documents and industry standards.
3. Review and interpret architectural drawings to ensure specifications reflect design intent and comply with project requirements.
4. Collaborate with project architects, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate specifications into project documentation seamlessly.
5. Utilize SpecLink Cloud to create and manage specification content efficiently.
6. Stay current on building codes, industry standards, and materials to ensure accuracy and adherence to best practices.
7. Support QA/QC efforts to maintain consistency, clarity, and compliance in all specifications.
8. Assist in selecting materials, finishes, and products aligned with sustainability goals.
9. Review and edit specifications prepared by others for consistency and completeness.
10. Build and maintain relationships with vendors and manufacturers to stay informed about product innovations.
11. Provide technical support during construction, including submittal reviews and responding to contractor inquiries related to specifications.

Required Skills

1. Demonstrated experience as a Specifications Writer in an architectural or engineering environment.
2. Strong knowledge of construction documents, materials, and applicable building codes.
3. Proficiency in producing accurate, well-coordinated, and detailed specifications.
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
5. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
6. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines within a collaborative team setting.

Education & Experience

1. Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (strongly preferred).
2. Licensed Architect (preferred).
3. CSI (Construction Specifications Institute) certification (preferred).
4. Experience with SpecLink Cloud (strongly preferred).
5. Familiarity with sustainable design practices and LEED processes (a plus).
6. Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) (preferred).
