Hours worked over 40 in a week can be reimbursed as additional pay at an equivalent hourly rate or banked as additional PTO for exempt staff. As a Bridge Designer, you will be responsible for all aspects of the structural design, layout, and plan production on large multi-discipline transportation projects. Projects will include single- and multi-span bridges, complex retaining walls, and require close coordination with other disciplines (roadway, drainage, MOT, etc.). The ideal candidate will also have mentorship skills to lead and train junior design and drafting staff. Core Responsibilities:
Leading the design for large, multi-structure transportation projects Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating enthusiasm, dedication, and self-discipline Prioritize work to meet project requests and deadlines, coordinating with engineers and project managers Develop designs using Power InRoads, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD Civil3D Produce accurate, aesthetically pleasing output Manage project data files from various sources Communicate proactively with colleagues and clients, both in-person and remotely Mentor and train junior CAD staff Manage workspaces and develop plan sets in ORD, including sheet creation and plan set development Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
10+ years of relevant bridge design experience Associates degree or equivalent technical degree Knowledge of state DOT standards is a plus but not required Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and think in 3D Ability to work independently, managing multiple tasks with competing priorities Professional, creative, and team-focused attitude Mentoring skills and leadership mindset Why work at Horrocks?
